Yesterday, Forbes.com reported that the Stamford-Norwalk-Bridgeport metropolitan area was named the nation's fourth "most livable city".
Forbes site examined quality-of-life measures in 379 of the largest continental US metropolitan statistical areas. These are urban belts defined by the US Office of Management and Budget. The county recieved particularly high marks for having low levels of crime, unemployment and a 4.1% income growth over the last 5 years. It also ranked 11th for it's culture.
The top 3 cites were Portland, Maine: Bethesda, Maryland and Des Moines, Iowa. Modesto, California was ranked the lowest in the study.
A previous economic study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York cited the metropolitan area as having the nation's highest per capita average gross domestic product. Last February, Forbe.com named this same area as the 15th "smarest city in the country".
